Bagels are one of the fastest growing bakery products and sandwich carriers on UK menus[1], with Brits getting through 3.6 million bagels for breakfast and lunch out-of-home each month[2].

New York Bakery Co. is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its new Bagel Guide on National Bagel Day (9^th February 2018). The Guide is designed to help operators capitalise on the ‘bagel boom’ and tap into the increasing demand for bagels in the out-of-home market. Full of insight, tips and recipes to make it easy for operators to create on-trend bagel dishes and successfully implement them on menus.

Inspired by the big food trends of 2018, the Guide features recipes for American inspired dishes, Middle Eastern cuisine and vegetarian and vegan options. Tasty recipes include Lebanese Chicken, Vegan falafel with beetroot and carrot slaw and Classic Pastrami with a British twist.

Philippa Knight, Marketing Manager for Out-of-Home at New York Bakery Co. comments: “It’s no secret that consumers are moving away from traditional breads to more premium and specialty alternatives. Not only this, but the demand for American inspired dishes shows no sign of slowing down. Both of these trends have been big factors in the ‘bagel boom’ and have helped to make bagels a must have item on menus.

“While cream cheese is always going to be a popular topping, the Guide helps operators to create a bagel offering that stands out from the competition. The Lebanese chicken bagel, for example, combines Middle Eastern ingredients a lot of consumers will be familiar with, like hummus, alongside more unusual, up-and-coming flavours such as zaatar and sumac.”
